Blatantly slack-ass sick week roundup post

Well, shit.

Well, I’d planned to post something, anything, worthwhile today — to get back on my one-a-week rhythm — and then…

Yeah.

Days without incident: 0

Previous record: 881

No plan survives enemy contact.

So that happened, and here we are, and so in lieu of anything even marginally substantive, here are five short little brain-fog-friendly nuggets I’ve been consuming, between doomscrolling and naps, during my convalescence.

What I Did During My Isolation

McDonald’s Makes You Go “Awww

Okay, so I’m still pissed at Ad Age for their recent unforgivable compassion fail, so don’t think I’m letting that slide. But they did post about this adorable Father’s Day print campaign in the Philippines showing dads dressing up to take their kids out to McDonald’s, and… my heart.

McDonald’s Father’s Day Ads Celebrate Dads Who Dress Up for Their Kids

Excellent work, Leo Burnetts Manila and Dubai. (This doesn’t mean we’re cool, Ad Age.)

Brand Fails

There’s also this roundup of 30 image-damaging brand fails.

30 Brand Fails And Disasters That Seriously Damaged Their Image

(Pretty much what it says on the tin.)

No, the Real Queen

And this video featuring Queen Elizabeth II and Paddington Bear sharing tea and rocking out to Queen in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee.

There’s actually a full-length version of the intro, where we finally learn what the Queen carries in her purse. (The Queen of England. Not the Queen, obviously. And I’m going to make a confession there: I did raise an eyebrow at the idea of American Idol Runner-Up Adam Lambert stepping into the Adidas wrestling boots of Freddy Mercury, but I have become thoroughly convinced.)

The Adventures of Bitey

So, there’s also this Facebook post from Domino’s New Zealand, sharing the adventures of Bitey the Plastic T-Rex as he waited for his family to come pick him up after he was forgotten at the store.

It’s good to see that Bitey was still able to put his tiny, tiny little T-Rex arms to good use. Good for you, Bitey.

The Aviation Gin Vasectomy

Then there’s this Father’s Day ad from Aviation American Gin, featuring noted procreator Nick Cannon mixing (or trying to mix) a Vasectomy.

I’ve written before about how Ryan Reynolds and Maximum Effort continue to hit the mark and have fun basically every single time, and… yup, again.

And a note

Also: Wear a freaking mask, people. We know two-way masking is extra effective, particularly, like, trapped an airplane for two hours in Economy Plus. Humans are — and I’ve tested this myself — still capable of wearing a KN95 even without a mandate. So please be a good citizen, think about other people, and wear a mask when you’re inside, even though it sucks.
