The work tends to be fairly workaday, and one often finds oneself making one\u2019s own fun. Depending on the actual state organization, of course, the amount of available fun does vary (says the woman who worked for a state university and health system that does its best but really does have to keep levity to a reasonable level). But the social media teams behind these five Twitter accounts clearly have been cut loose to have a good time, and to share it with followers to offer more than the standard sewer system status update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/neorsd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NE Ohio Regional Sewer District<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, you heard me. The sewer system. Of course, arguably, if you\u2019re doing social media for a sewer system, you\u2019re going to have to inject some level of fun just from a survival perspective, but these folks clearly have a good time. They\u2019re funny and snarky and also sincere and heartwarming, and I have nothing but admiration for a team of creatives with big hearts and funny brains and management who are up for saying, \u201cYeah, that sounds exactly like the brand we\u2019re going for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/waemd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Emergency Management Division<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The team at WAEMD tends to play it a little straighter than some of their government cousins, but they\u2019re still always game for a good meme, reaction gif, or well-meaning snark. They clearly have fun while being informative, whether you need information about important topics like <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/waEMD\/status\/1567625604186652672\" target=\"_blank\">volcanoes<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/waEMD\/status\/1568274924497960961\" target=\"_blank\">fire prevention<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/waEMD\/status\/1565114769329504256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the most important things to leave out of your emergency preparedness kit<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(And also stuff like, y\u2019know, what part of the state is on fire at any given moment, and stuff. It can\u2019t all be funny.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(In other news, though, am I the only person who didn\u2019t know <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/waEMD\/status\/1572753695858917376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the \u201cNo Internet\u201d page IS ALSO A GAME<\/a>? I\u2019m always the last to learn about cool things.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USCPSC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t see the words \u201cU.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission\u201d and immediately think \u201ctrippy Photoshop work,\u201d that\u2019s because you lack imagination and faith in the twisted minds of the commission\u2019s social media team. They clearly put a good twenty, even thirty minutes into each creation, and that\u2019s why this warning about lithium-ion batteries is going to haunt my nightmares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Got a new e-bike, scooter, or hoverboard for the holidays?
