The Client: o2 ideas, the agency I used to call home

The Challenge: Provide an extraordinary 80th birthday celebration for Shelley Stewart— an extraordinary man with an extraordinary life.

The Solution: We gave Shelley's multitudinous friends and colleagues an opportunity to express what his life has meant to them with an expansive birthday campaign. This involved eblast requests for video tributes, a website, and hand-lettered invitations for 200 guests to attend a surprise party. The party was decorated with posters illustrating Shelley's favorite folksy aphorisms—his own words. And there was cake. The campaign won gold at the 2015 Birmingham ADDYs, but the most important thing is that Shelley had a great birthday. And that we won awards.
